“Think Of An Eel” by Karen Wallace, illustrated by Mike Bostock.

Do you know anything about eels? We do! It takes a baby eel three years to travel to Europe from the Sargasso Sea. They look like “leaves you can see through” with “teeth that look like saws.” Would you like to know more? Then why don’t you read all about it in our book or ask us some questions.

This book was very interesting and received thumbs up from everyone!

Film Club Term 3

On Friday 27th January 2012 Film Club for Key Stage One children begins. Remember you must have signed up for the club to come along. Film Club starts at 3.15pm and ends at 4.45pm. Our first film of the term is “Fungus the Bogeyman”.

Church Schools Candle Pilgrimage

Tuesday 24th January 2012 marks the day that Burgh, St Peter & St Paul CE Primary School celebrates the arrival of the Church Schools Candle. Yesterday Miss Smith, Father Terry, Chloe and Adam from Year 6 were invited to assembly at Halton Primary School to receive the Church Schools Candle. The candle has been passing around all the Church Schools in the Lincoln Diocese since the 200 year anniversary of Church Schools marked with a service at Lincoln Cathedral last year. This morning the whole gathered at St Peter & St Paul Church to welcome the candle and hear some of the history of Burgh School. This afternoon we will be holding another service, but this time in school to pass the candle on to another school. Mr Beveridge and children from Wainfleet School will be joining us to celebrate this special event.

In numeracy we have been adding. We have been using numberlines as well as counting on from the largest number.

In literacy we have been writing traditional stories. Try writing your own with a beginning, middleand end (don’t forget the exciting part!)

The children are looking forward to telling you all about what they have been learning about as well as a song and a dance!

4x table

As the children have practised and hopefully learned their 3x tables it is now time to move on!!!!! Please practise the 4X table with the children now.

Movers and Shakers

Well done to those who have already brought in their shaker musical instruments. They look and sound fantastic!
Don’t forget that there is still lots of time this week to bring them in to make some noise!

We will be using them on Thursday 2nd February in our Year 1 class assembly. The children are excited about telling you all about what they have been doing and
it would be wonderful to see you there.

Orienteering

Year Four have been enjoying learning the basics of orienteering and are looking forward to becoming more adventurous! Remember to bring a warm P.E. kit (and gloves, hat etc if last weeks weather was anything to go by).

Just a quick reminder about Year 2′s class assembly…it’s coming up soon. If you are able to join us, the children will be showing you what they have been up to and what they have been learning about during their time in Year 2 so far!

P.E kits

Don’t forget your indoor and outdoor P.E kits for Multiskills and Hockey for the rest of this term please. Remember how cold it is outside so don’t forget to include plenty of warm layers for the hockey lessons, including a hat and gloves. Children should also, by now, be wearing their own shin pads and if possible a protective gum shield. Thank you.
